Dating from 1449, this wonderfully traditional and unique hotel is a real find. Tucked within the winding streets of the old town on the Alfama Hill, just minutes from the Castelo de São Jorge. Many of the rooms are decorated with traditional Portuguese tiling and antique furniture, offering guests a real sense of history.
The Palácio Belmonte Hotel is housed in the most ancient Palácio in Lisbon, constructed around part of the ancient fortified Roman and Moorish walls between 1449 and 1640. It was classified as a National Monument in 1997 and has undergone a major renovation process to maintain the spirit and ambiance of the old property while imbuing it with a modern touch. The medium sized lobby has a cosy seating area. The 11 suites are decorated in different styles and vary in size, with furnishings ranging from contemporary to traditional. All are well equipped and immaculately maintained. There are several terraces with fantastic views of the city and an open library with more than 4000 books in a variety of languages. The hotel also boasts a black marble swimming pool.
